Here are some facts about my Christmas.

I was in Bandung, Indonesia.. a city about a 1 hour plane ride from Jogja. 

Bandung has some of the most beautiful mountains i’ve ever seen surrounding it. 

Bandung is much colder than Jogja, so although it was nothing compared to snow… it was as close as I think we could get here. 

Avery made an amazing Christmas Tree out of Styrofoam. 

We made colorful paper chains and strung them around Hamza’s house in Bandung.

We did secret santa, my present was a shirt that said ‘Damn, I love Indonesian Food’ … fitting.

Sabine made pancakes that turned out more like Martabak.. (martabak is a delicoius indonesian type of pancake)

We made stockings out of paper but forgot to fill them.

We listened to christmas songs by Maroon 5, Barry Manilow, and Norah Jones.

For new years, everyone came to my city.. Jogja. Here are some facts about New years.

We all met David’s family at their hotel, then took cars up to Bukit Bintang. 

Bukit bintang is a bunch of restaurants on a mountian that have an amazing view of jogja below, and at night all the city lights look like stars in the night sky.. hence bukit bintang, translates directly to ‘star hill’.

We sat in a little pizzeria type cafe thing on the floor, but it was nothing like a pizzeira in america.

I drank hot chocolate that was really good and ate grilled chocolate sandwiches. ‘Roti Bakar’

Around midnight, our cafe almost blew up. Don’t be scared.. its only because someone on the floor below us was setting off fireworks.

Fireworks are completely legal here and you can use them where ever and whenver you want.. a bit concerning, but none the less a good time.

We made a twitter account…   @buledoingthings  pretty much making fun of ourselves. Go check it out. We’re hoping it blows up in indonesia and we become famous. 

All in all I had a very successful and fun Christmas and New Years.
